I agree with this idea that the number of cars will decrease in 20 years.

I have two reasons to support my idea.

First, There will be better public transportation in future ,so we can move around the country without cars. For example, linear motorcar is under construction now. When it will be made, we will be able to move much faster than we used to. According to some newspaper I read, with the linear motorcar, it will take just an hour to move from Tokyo to Osaka while it takes six hour by car. This new transportation will seem to be much convenient than cars, hence I believe it will replace cars.

Second, environmental regulations against cars will be tightened. In these days, the awareness of environmental problems is becoming larger ,and despite the invention of an electric car, cars  are not eco-friendly transportation in principle than public transportations. Trains and busses can carry a lot of people in a single drive, this is why these transportations are eco-friendly unlike cars. Therefore the governments around the world will regulate cars more strictly.

To sum up, useful transportation such like a linear motorcar will replace cars, and the NGOs and governments strongly stand back the utilization of more eco-friendly public transportations. so I think the demand for cars will decrease in next  twenty years.
